Reading and writing are important and often joyous parts of my life, and I love to share this enthusiasm with CSUDH students. I graduated from Pomona College, a small liberal arts institution, with a BA in English.

The philosophy of liberal arts colleges is to educate students broadly in a wide-range of subjects across the disciplines—much as Interdisciplinary Studies/PACE does—and to cultivate both an interest in and a capacity for lifelong intellectual exploration.

I returned to graduate school as a young mother with three children, earning my MA and PhD in English from Duke University. My scholarly interests include American literature, women’s studies, and the American West.
